One More Thing . . . .

Over the weekend I received two gifts. First, this book from Q 104.3 radio DJ Maria Milito. The second is the framed picture from my son and his girlfriend. When I opened it tears came to my eyes and she said,"Oh, I didn't mean to make you cry." I said, "These are happy tears. So many good memories."
(Thanks again to all of you who took the time to send me and email and share your stories. Your thoughtfulness was most welcome and soothing.)
Maria's book is a good gift for anyone coping with the loss of a pet.

True Facts About Everyday Life

True Facts About Everyday Life

Danish writer Mikael Wulff and cartoon artist Anders Morgenthaler – the creative duo known as Wumo – has created a brilliant series of graphs that illustrate some of the basic painful truths of everyday life in the Western world.

Their graphs and diagrams are snarky and sarcastic but, for the most part, true. This, coupled with their simple and official-looking design, makes them a delight to look at. Wulff and Morgenthaler share these images on Wumo (formerly known as Wulffmorgenthaler). If you think you may have seen their work before, it should come as no surprise – they are a fairly successful cartoon duo. Their rise to success started in 2001, when they entered and won a cartoon competition. When they won, they received a one-month run of their comic strip in Politiken, a national Danish newspaper. Their popularity soared with the new exposure, and they soon found more and more publishers, including several blogs and newspapers throughout Scandinavia and Germany. Their most recent accomplishment was becoming a regular cartoon strip in the New York Times.

If you still have trouble viewing after double clicking on the pictures you can go to this link:

Here are some samples of their work.

Our Sweet Little Maggie

Our sweet little Westie Maggie passed away last Tuesday, the 13th. (She'd been 15 1/2 today.)
Over the weekend Shutterfly photo had a free offer. Two 8 x 10's were one of the choices.
So I just had to make up these collages. Several in the bottom photo were taken on her last night.
I never imagine just how heartbroken I'd feel . . . . .This is going to take some time . . . . . . .
-------------------------------------
The next morning when I turned on the car radio the first song that came on was Rod Stewart's "Maggie May". She was named after that song. I sent an email to the DJ, Maria Milito on the NY radio station Q 104.3 to tell her the connection to the song and said how much it meant to me to hear that song at that time. She emailed me back with a sweet reply and we've exchanged a few more emails since.
 ---------------------------------------------
Then 3 days later I'm on the Internet and click on this link about a "Kitchen of Your Dreams" since we had just recently gotten a proposal for a kitchen I figured I'd check it out.   Not only does this picture have a Westie in it but it's very much like the one from the showroom that I picked out from the contractor!
AND when I scrolled down the woman in the article is holding her dog, which is white, but clearly not a Westie. So it appears they just used a Westie when they staged the kitchen shot!
(You know things like this have happened to me all my life.)

5 Facts About Life I've Realized This Year by Mo Seetubtim

Here are the headlines but you need to go to the link and read it in full.

 1. Life is about trial and error.  So take risks.... because it's not a big deal if you fail. It's just another error. You can try again.

 2. Life has its own flow. Life has its own pace. You can have it all but not all at once. And if you don't keep your focus right, you might not achieve anything.

 3. Life has its own energy. and when the energy flow is blocked or abused, you feel stressed and lost - you feel like you need control.

 4. Life gets easier when you can manage your emotions better. Everyone was born with the ability to become successful. But on the path to that, the obstacles and challenges everyone has to face are their own emotions. The ability to manage one's emotions and develop self-discipline is what determines whether they will be successful.

 5. Life's end goal is not to find happiness. It all starts with acceptance - the acceptance of self, of circumstances, and of situations.
