Flannel Board
How many of you remember the old fashion flannel board from Sunday school?
Well, I've brought it back as a way to work on layouts for a quilt pattern. All you need is a foam core board (20"x 30") flannel, and some spray adhesive. After I cut off the excess I used a fabric glue stick and trimmed it with ribbon on the edges. Fabric shown is from a "wee play" charm pack, American Jane Patterns, from Moda fabrics.

Tips to Avoid Foreclosure Scams
*Work only with a non-profit HUD-approved counselor. For a list of certified counselors visit www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/hcs.cfm or call 877-HUD-1515 (877-483-1515). If the name of the organization you are working with isn't on the list, then switch to one that is.
*Don't pay an arm and a leg. Most housing counselors provide no- or low-cost counseling services. You should not have to pay hundreds, or thousands, of dollars for assistance.
*Be wary of "guarantees." No one can ensure you good results.
*Know what you are signing. Don't let a counselor pressure you into signing paperwork you haven't had a chance to read thoroughly or that you don't understand.
*If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If you feel you are a victim of foreclosure fraud, trust your instincts and ask for help. Report suspicious schemes to your state and local consumer protection agencies, which you can find on the Consumer Action Website. http://www.consumeraction.gov/

Two 3-Day Challenges
THE THREE-DAY SUGAR CHALLENGE:
(Note to Diabetics: If you are currently being treated for diabetes, and are on any kind of diabetic medication, insulin or pills, DO NOT try this challenge without talking to your doctor!)
For three lousy days, do not eat anything with added sugar. You can have all the sugar substitute you want. But no sugar in tea or coffee, no cookies, no cake ... you get the drill. Three days only. At the end of three days, make a mental note of how you feel. Do you have more energy? Are you breathing better? Do you notice fewer muscle and joint aches and pains? Do you have a more optimistic feeling about Life and the World In General?
Now, then ... on the fourth day, eat ONE chocolate chip cookie. How long does it take for you to feel lousy, all over again?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
THE THREE-DAY CAFFEINE CHALLENGE:
(Note: sudden cessation of caffeine causes headaches in many individuals, but nothing an OTC pain reliever won't take away.)
And in a month or so (I'd hate for you to deprive yourself of too much, too soon), do the same thing, except eliminate caffeine from your diet. NO caffeine at all. No coffee, tea, soft drinks, cocoa ... you get the drill. Three days only.
At the end of three days, make a mental note of how you feel. Do you have more energy? Are you breathing better? Do you notice fewer muscle and joint aches and pains? Do you have a more optimistic feeling about Life and the World In General?
Now, then ... on the fourth day, drink one cup of coffee or have one soft drink. How long does it take for you to feel lousy, all over again?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Both of these Challenges work on the premise that ANYBODY can do without ANYTHING for three lousy days, and you will be AMAZED at the difference in how you will feel by eliminating these two things from your diet. It's also a lot easier to give something up entirely when you KNOW FOR CERTAIN that you will feel so much better once you do, and taking these two challenges is the proof you need. From here on out, it will be easier for you to push away that soda-pop or that piece of pie!
To go along with this you can also checkout Sugarbusters:

or here:
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/sugarbusters/a/sugarbustrlists.htm
or how it got started: http://www.mendosa.com/sugar.htm
What experts say about it on WebMD:
http://www.webmd.com/diet/sugar-busters-what-it-is?page=3
I think no matter what the experts say we all know that we eat a lot of the wrong foods and not enough of the right foods. It's just a good challenge to eat the right stuff for 3 days!
