My mother has a beautiful creche and when I was little, I would start the wise men and the camel far away from the manger and move them a little closer each day until Jan. 6th.

Now that I'm a mom, I have started some new traditions:

We drive up to the mountains to cut a fresh tree down, listening to Christmas music all the way.

When we put out all the creche(s) we "hide" all the Baby Jesus's. When the kids were little they would magically appear on Christmas morning, now my daughter helps me put them in their mangers before we start opening presents.

Our children get only 3 presents from Santa after all, that's all that Jesus got, so we figured, it was good enough for our kids.

We put all the presents we receive up in the attic until Christmas Eve when they are all brought down and put around the tree. This keeps the focus off the presents (and who got more, whose presents are bigger, etc...) and on the real reason for the season.

Merry Christmas!
