Parish Activity - Seedling Exchange

I thought it might be fun to do a flower seedling exchange for Mother's Day!
Cost - just a packet of seeds and some potting soil.
Save the packet to display with the seedlings for the exchange.
(Then maybe vegetable seedlings for Father's day?)

Suggestion:
Years ago I decided to start marigolds in preparation for my planting of annuals come May.
I put a small amount of soil in the bottom of a Styrofoam cup, but a cardboard tube is even better.
Then as the seedlings grew, I added more soil.
When it was time to plant them outside, I had beautiful round balls of foliage and buds.
This avoided long spindly stems.
Just a thought.
Linda
