National Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer. What does prayer mean to you?

“Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God.” - Diana Robinson

"Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” - Mahatma Gandhi “In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”

“To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” - Martin Luthr King, Jr. "Pray and let God worry."

“I have had prayers answered - most strangely so sometimes - but I think our heavenly Father's loving-kindness has been even more evident in what He has refused me.”
- Lewis Carroll

“It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.” - Helen Keller

“Prayers go up and blessings come down.” - Yiddish Proverb

“I believe in prayer. It's the best way we have to draw strength from heaven.”
- Josephine Baker

“Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” - Saint Augustine
